Kids get busy this half term

Despite turbulent weather conditions in Sefton the forecast for half term is for fulogo-active-seftonn for children and young people.

Throughout the school holidays Sefton Leisure Services are working in partnership with Sefton Youth Services to provide young people with a diverse range of free things to do at leisure centres and youth centres across the borough.

Providing a range of sporting activities for children and young people aged 8-16, Free & Active will be taking place at each Active Sefton leisure centre across the borough offering a range of taster sessions in athletics, boxercise, cheerleading, dance, fencing, street cheer and dragon boat racing from 10 – 12 in the morning and 2-4pm in the afternoon. For children and young people wanting to enjoy specialist activities there are a range of camps in archery, cycling, football, street cheer, ju-jitsu, athletics and dance. Disabled children and young people are also welcome to attend all activities with additional support provided on a range of activities provided by the Positive Futures team including visits to underwater street and tours of both Everton and Liverpool Football clubs.

Every weekday during the summer break these free activities will be happening at Sefton Leisure Centres and Youth Centres for all children and young people and are completely free of charge so there’s no excuse not to be healthy and get involved.

Commenting on the programme, one Merseyside resident noted;

“As a single parent finding activities for the children to do over the holiday time can be very difficult, but the Free & Active programme means my children can have fun and make new friends in a safe environment where I know they’re not up to mischief.”

Extending the range of activities for teenagers for all abilities, Sefton Youth Services have developed a range of activities for young people including go karting, scuba diving, white water rafting and winter sports to get older children aged 13-19 years of age out and about this half term.
