Sefton's Older People's Olympics

Older People enjoy JengaLakesiders win Gold in Sefton’s Older people’s Olympics!!

 

Active Sefton get the golden oldies active.  In celebration of National Older people’s Day Active Sefton showed that age is not just a number by creating Sefton’s first ever older people’s Olympics.

 

The event, held at Dunes Splash World and funded by NHS Sefton, was filled with fun packed activities ranging from badminton, wellington boot throwing, Jenga, Connect 4 and Skittles to name a few.

Cricketing Fun in Sefton

Getting cricket crazy, kids in Sefton are keeping Active with a number of specialist junior cricket sessions running the popular Active Kidz programme.cricket_boy

Taking place at Bootle Cricket Club and Litherland Sports Park, the after school sessions have proven popular with record numbers of young people attending over the summer months and set to continue as the programme launches for the new term in September.

It’s all splashing great fun

Making a splash lakeside style, youngsters from Merefield School enjoyed a summer break with a difference, thanks to funding from the Aiming High for Disabled Children project.

Arranged through the Sefton Positive Futures team, Merefield School were able to utilise the funding to run a three-week summer holiday programme for their pupils with the most profound and complex disabilities.

Pupils accessed a range of water sports activities including power boating and dinghies.

Jumpers for Goalposts

As the football season starts to kick off, Sefton’s Ability Counts football team have already begun the league as Champions.logo-positive-futures

 

Crowned champions for 2011, the disabled footballers achieved their winning title after competing the in Merseyside based disabled football league. With strong competition from Everton and Liverpool Football clubs, the team took embraced their opportunity to lead the way and show the other teams how it’s done.

60 Years in Netherton

To mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in June next year, the Feelgood Factory (Netherton) is organising its own special event - 60 Years in Netherton.

This is to celebrate the achievements and lives of local people since the Queen was crowned in June 1952 and the centre is encouraging the community to come forward to share their stories.
