- Reduce the risk of developing Type II Diabetes
- Better control of Diabetes
- Reduce risk of CHD
- Increase levels of good cholesterol - HDL (High Density Lipid)
- Reduce the risk of Osteoperosis
- Increase lean muscle mass
- Improve mobility and balance reducing the risk of falls
- Reduce Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Improve sleep
- Assist in weight management
- Improve mood
- Reduce stress
- Increases metabolic rate, burning more calories
- Improve self esteem and body confidence
The guidelines for adults are 30 minutes of moderate exercise on at least 5 days of the week.
"Moderate" describes an activity that makes you feel warmer, raises your heart rate slightly and causes you to breathe more deeply. You should still be able to talk and feel comfortable enough to carry on.
Active Workforce Buddy Scheme
Statistics show that people who exercise with a friend are more likely to keep it up. If you have a friend relying on you to go to the fitness suite, attend a class or take a morning walk, you’ll be less likely to cancel.
This is one strategy that has helped many to stick to their physical activity programme. You will begin to rely on each other for moral support and accountability. Adding a social aspect to improving your health and well being makes the experience more enjoyable and less of a chore.
With this in mind, we are pleased to introduce the Active Workforce "Buddy" scheme. You can now nominate someone to workout with you, keep you motivated and keep you company. Your "Buddy" can be anyone, partner, relation or friend. As a "Buddy" they will receive Platinum membership at the discounted price of £25 a month. Should you cancel your membership your Buddy's membership will revert to the full cost price.
This offer is restricted to one "buddy" per Active Workforce member.
To introduce someone as your Buddy, contact the centre directly and arrange a mutually convenient time for you both to attend and register. Once your "Buddy" has had their induction and set up their payment you will be ready to enjoy all the benefits of the Active Workforce scheme together.
We hope you make use of this fantastic offer, should require any further information please contact a member of the Active Workforce Team on 0151 934 2079.
